TEREA Black Menthol Japan Flavour: No Fruit, No Sweetness, Maximum Cooling

Black Menthol is built for one thing: the strongest menthol hit in our Japan lineup. The tobacco underneath is dark and toasted, not thin or hollow, but it’s clearly there to support the cooling, not compete with it. There’s no fruit added and almost no sweetness, so the mint stays sharp and clean from the first puff to the last.

This isn’t a stick to start with if you’re new to menthol. If you’re not sure yet, TEREA Turquoise Uzbekistan is a gentler menthol option that will give you a better sense of whether strong cooling suits you before you commit to this one.

A Note on Nicotine Figures

We list nicotine at approximately 0.5 mg per stick, the standard figure for TEREA products. Actual nicotine delivery can vary slightly between production batches and markets, since these figures reflect standardized testing conditions rather than a fixed number every single stick hits exactly. This isn’t unique to Black Menthol, it applies across TEREA generally, we just think it’s worth saying plainly rather than presenting the number as more precise than it is.

Why Is It Called Black?

Philip Morris uses “Black” as a naming prefix across several of the strongest cooling sticks in the Japan TEREA range, Black Menthol, Black Yellow Menthol, Black Purple Menthol among them. Across that group, “Black” consistently marks the boldest cooling tier rather than describing the tobacco’s actual color. We don’t have an official statement from the manufacturer explaining the convention, but the pattern holds consistently across every stick that carries the name.

Compatibility: ILUMA and ILUMA i Only

Black Menthol runs on the SMARTCORE induction heating system used across IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA i Standard, ILUMA i One, and ILUMA i Prime. No blade runs through the stick, so the cooling and tobacco heat evenly from the first draw to the last.

It will not work in IQOS 3 DUO or any older blade-based device.

Who This Stick Is For

Black Menthol works well if:

• You’ve tried other menthol TEREA sticks and found them too mild
• You specifically want the strongest menthol option in the Japan range, not a moderate one labeled as extreme
• You want cooling without fruit or sweetness getting in the way
• You want a stick that stays consistent every session rather than shifting flavor partway through

Where to Go From Here

If Black Menthol turns out to be more intense than you want, Black Yellow Menthol brings the same strong cooling with a citrus note added, a slightly softer entry point into the same strength tier. If you want a complete change of pace after a strong menthol session, Shine Pearl offers a capsule format with a fruit-forward profile instead of menthol. And if you’re comparing this against a plain tobacco option, Balanced Regular sits at the opposite end of the range, smooth and moderate with no cooling at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is TEREA Black Menthol really the strongest menthol option? Yes, within our Japan range it’s the most intense pure menthol stick we carry. If you want strong cooling with a citrus or berry note added instead of pure menthol, Black Yellow Menthol or Black Purple Menthol are the next options to look at.

Does Black Menthol have any fruit or sweetness? No. It’s built to stay clean and mint-forward with minimal sweetness and no fruit, unlike the Black Yellow or Black Purple variants in the same strength tier.

Why is it called “Black” Menthol? Philip Morris uses “Black” across several of its strongest Japan-market cooling sticks. It marks the intensity tier rather than describing the actual color of the tobacco. We don’t have an official manufacturer explanation for the naming, just the consistent pattern across the range.

Does the nicotine content ever vary? The listed figure is approximately 0.5 mg per stick, the standard for TEREA, but batch and market testing can produce small variations. This applies across TEREA generally, not just this stick.

How many puffs does one stick give? Up to 14 puffs per stick, spread across roughly a 6-minute session.

Will this work in my IQOS 3 DUO? No. Black Menthol is built for the bladeless SMARTCORE system in IQOS ILUMA and ILUMA i devices only, and is not compatible with IQOS 3 DUO or any blade-based model.

How fast is delivery in Dubai? Orders placed before the daily cut-off arrive in Dubai within 1 hour. Sharjah and Ajman follow within 2 hours, and the rest of the UAE within 12 hours.
